MapInfo is a toolkit for working with geographic data and performing spatial analysis. It has a sophisticated set of tools for importing, editing and creating geographic objects such as point locations, vector lines and polygons. You can analyse the spatial relationships within your data and output your analysis as colourful maps, data tables or prints.

We use MapInfo for processing, analysing and preparing data which is often then loaded into an online mapping system for dissemenation. MapInfo can also read many data formats allowing exchange of information across many GIS platforms.

MapBasic is a programming language designed to create custom functionality using MapInfo. We have written many utilities to streamline the processing of geographic data. As an example, we recently helped our client process a dataset of flight vectors to determine the individual point location for every photograph taken along a given vector. This point information was then used together with flying height and camera properties to determine the approximate area of coverage for each aerial photograph.
