MapGuide Implementation
Autodesk MapGuide is possibly the best software for using geographic information across the web.
The software consists of a server component which hosts the geographic information and a client component which
is appended to your browser. The client component is also available as a Java applet.
Within your browser a window displays geographic information as it would in conventional desktop gis. When you interact with the gis window, the client
sends a request to the server to obtain the information required to fulfill your request. To see MapGuide in action, go to
www.datashare.org.uk.
The cost structure is such that this technology can be implemented at a significant cost saving per head over
desktop systems. Whilst the level of functionality is less that that of a desktop system, MapGuide is simple to use
and has a minimal training requirement to geographically-enable your workforce. Furthermore, the centralisation of your
geographic data affords savings in the management of your data.

Geographic Analysis and Cartographic Production
The analyses of geographical information has been a core activity of See IT since our inception.
During this time we have worked on diverse projects from assisting rural policy development within the
Scottish Executive to preparing maps of financial transactions on a worldwide basis for a major financial organisation.
The magnitude of the potential for geographic information goes far beyond what can be covered here.
Please follow the contact link if you would like an informal discussion on the potential
for joint working.

Drive Time (Isochrone) Production and Analysis
The analysis of the geographic information requires not only to understand the realtionship
between locations, but must also include factors such as accessibility. To many people accessibility is linked
to ease by which access may be gained by private car and it is therefore useful to know the route times and distances.

MapInfo Training
MapInfo is our preferred desktop gis solution. Its relative ease of use and close integration with the Microsoft Office
suite (indeed there is a mapping element within Excel based upon MapInfo technology) make it a popular choice globally. See IT
use MapInfo on a dailly basis whether it be cartographic production or geographic analysis our depth of understanding of the
software and its capabilities enables us to offer first class training to your requirements.

MapBasic Development
MapBasic is the development environment for MapInfo. Based upon Visual Basic, MapBasic affords programmatic
access to the functions and tools of MapInfo allowing the developer to fully customise the software to the task.

3D Gis
Technology continues to evolve at an enourmous rate and geographic technologies are no different. One of the latest developments which is
filtering onto the market place is to add a third dimension to geographic information systems. Digital terrain models are available
to describe the countours of the country and building heights can be determined through surveying or advanced modelling techniques.
The resulting data portrays a much clearer picture of the topography of the land and urban infrastructure and expands further the type
of analysis that can be undertaken. Insurance companies use this approach to determine the extent of waterways bursting there banks and flooding
the surrounding areas. They can determine the risk to each property within the path of predicted floodwaters.
